LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Bazaar a success, despite location change due to winds

“Necessity is the mother of invention” is a statement widely attributed to Plato many years ago. There is little doubt about the wisdom of this adage.

Fellowship Community, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall, had a weekend brush with the adage. On April 30 and May 1, Fellowship had an outside bazaar planned. April 30 was an extremely disruptively windy day, with winds remaining present into May 1. Out of necessity, the bazaar was moved indoors. Indoor COVID-19 precautions were in place. Hand sanitizer was accessible, an iPad checked in and logged temperatures of patrons and volunteers and masks were available to visitors if they didn’t have one.

Kelly Gould, director of marketing, was optimistic the bazaar would be a success. Numerous volunteers and Fellowship staff were on hand for the event. A variety of talented vendors were present, educating patrons and hoping to make a sale.

Fellowship residents Mario Spagnoletti and Norm Fox were proud to show off what they and others made in the Fellowship Community wood shop. They featured bird houses, wooden toys, games and various other wood items at their display.

Norwex independent representative Jennifer Mathesz was on hand and displayed various cleaning products and other household and personal items.

Josh Fafard, of Wind Gap, showed his creative skills with his business, Handcrafted Charcuterie Boards & Other Things.

Deanna Pantalione was on hand to promote the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, planned for Sept. 25 in the Lehigh Valley.

Volunteers Lori Proctor and Annie McIntyre sold take-home baked goods.

There were two food trucks outside for event attendees to purchase food and drinks.

Whitehall resident Lorraine Randolph noted she was delighted with the bazaar and “spent a lot of money.”

“It is nice to be out with other people,” whether indoors or outdoors, Randolph added.
