A real shot in the arm: Vaccine clinic opens doors in Whitehall

Lehigh Valley Health Network opened a new COVID-19 vaccine clinic April 12 at 2633 MacArthur Road, Whitehall - a space left vacant when A.C. Moore closed its doors last year.

The new clinic is part of LVHN’s plan to move Lehigh Valley Hospital’s Cedar Crest and Muhlenberg vaccine clinics into larger locations. A second new clinic opened in the Northampton Crossings shopping center in Palmer Township. These new clinics will allow LVHN to administer more vaccines to the community, while reducing the extra traffic in the hospitals.

“We’re excited to be at the Whitehall location and providing vaccinations in the community in a space that is accommodating for many to get the vaccine in a safe manner,” said Brian Downs, LVHN public information officer. “This is part of our larger plan to get as many people vaccinated as possible so that we can get back to some semblance of normal as soon as possible.”

The Whitehall clinic will be open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and vaccines are given by appointment only. There is a capacity of 2,000 vaccine shots per day.

As of April 13, all individuals who are 16 or older are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a statement released by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.

Mike Wotring, of Whitehall, was one of the first people to receive a vaccine at the new clinic.

“The new location is very convenient and efficient for local residents. Wonderful experience,” he said.

In addition to the two new locations, LVHN will continue to host drive- thru clinics at various locations in the Lehigh Valley and Pocono areas. Vaccines can be scheduled at mylvhn.org or by calling 833-584-6283.
