Richard Bugbee wins scholar-athlete award

The Lehigh Valley football scholar-athletes held their annual event virtually this year, as the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Lehigh Valley Chapter announced the winners Sunday night.

Salisbury’s Chad Parton took home the Ed Watto Award, while Nazareth’s Richard Bugbee was named the top scholar-athlete of the 33 individuals nominated.

The Catasauqua nominee was lineman Tyler Monahan.

Allen

Andrew J. Mumma

A wide receiver and defensive back, Mumma ranks 190th out of 591 students. He is an honor roll student with a GPA of 3.1. He is a member of the school yearbook staff. He is also active in his community.

Central Catholic

Jack Joseph McGorry

A wide receiver, McGorry ranks 36th out of 173 students. He is an honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, with a GPA of 3.65. He is a math academic tutor and participates in varsity lacrosse. He serves as a Viking Ambassador and plays CYO basketball. He volunteers with his church’s extended care program and Catholic Youth Sports.

Bangor Area

Jared Allen Reto

A running back and linebacker, Reto ranks 35th out of 225 students. He is an honor roll student and participates in varsity wrestling. He is a team captain, a school ambassador, and represented high school athletics by visiting and reading at local day care programs. He volunteers with his church and is a member of the church youth group. Additionally, he volunteers at the Plainfield and Jacktown farmers fairs.

Bethlehem Catholic

Ian Michael Nikolai Kish

A wide receiver and safety, Kish has a GPA of 3.52. He is an honor roll student and participates in varsity lacrosse. He is a member of the history club and serves as a hawk ambassador. He is an altar server and is active in his community.

Tyler James Monahan

A right tackle, Monahan ranks 31st out of 111 students. He is an honor roll student and serves as class president. He is a member of the school newspaper staff, and serves as the editor, and participates in varsity baseball and track. He is a student forum member and participates in the Varsity ‘C’ Club. He has worked as a cashier for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and Modell Sporting Goods, and has worked maintenance at Dorney Park.

A wide receiver and free safety, Chatieh ranks 190th out of 464 students. He participates in varsity track. He is active in his community.

Shane Robert Gagnon

A linebacker, Gagnon ranks 57th out of 253 students. He is an honor roll student with a GPA of 3.649. He is active in his community.

East Stroudsburg South William James Fish

A record-breaking quarterback, Fish ranks 47th out of 345 students. He is an honor roll student and member of the National Honor Society, with a GPA of 4.644.
