HEIDELBERG TWP: Heidelberg Church collecting cans of yams, personal care items

BY KAREN JENSEN PARRY

Special to The Press

Spread the word! Heidelberg Union Church welcomes the public to come out and take pleasure in its new Sunday drive-in worship service at 10 a.m.

Park across the street from the front porch steps of the church and enjoy a worship service delivered by Pastor Woody.

Yes, just like a drive-in movie theater, listen over the car radio.

With Heidelberg Church in mind, the church is collecting cans of yams to provide an Easter meal for Northern Lehigh Food Bank clients.

The last day to contribute is March 14.

At the same time, the church is also collecting items for the S.O.A.P. Closet (Save Our Appearance Please) for its food bank clients.

This was an Eagle Scout project started many years ago for their clients.

Items needed are bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes (individually packaged), shampoo and laundry detergent.

Cans of yams and items for the S.O.A.P. Closet may be brought to the church Sunday mornings when attending the drive-in worship service. Place items on the front porch.

“Your generosity is always greatly appreciated by the clients,” said Heidelberg Union Church Food Bank Representative Betty Krause.

For information, call Betty at 610-767-6949.

Just a thought! You don’t really wash your hands. They actually wash each other while you just stand there and watch.
