LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Basketball schedule is getting packed

Winter weather put a halt to Monday’s scheduled slate of contests for Bethlehem area teams, but will it be enough to keep Bethlehem Catholic on ice?

The Hawks (8-3) were winners of five-straight as they headed into this week. They took on Dieruff on Tuesday, past Press deadlines, and then take on Northampton on Thursday and Freedom on Friday.

Becahi swept both games last week against city rivals, dispatching the Pates 63-52 and the Hurricanes 67-47. The Hawks are right behind Central Catholic (13-3) in the District 11 4A rankings for the top spot.

Freedom (0-6) and Liberty (1-6) have continued to struggle this season, as the Hurricanes went 1-2 last week, but registered their first win of the season with a 49-42 victory over Nazareth.

Freedom came close to to their first win as well last week against Nazareth, but fell 54-53.

Liberty and Freedom are scheduled to face off twice this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Hurricanes also face Easton and Dieruff on Friday and Saturday respectively, while the Pates will play four straight games this week with the aforementioned two against Liberty, followed by Thursday’s tilt against Nazareth and then Friday’s showdown against Becahi.
