Coplay council OKs fee schedule

Coplay Borough Council, at its meeting Feb. 9, voted to approve Resolution 1476, which entailed “adopting revisions to the fee schedule of the borough of Coplay, amending and confirming municipal costs and fees for licenses, services and rentals, user fees and other charges set forth by council.”

This was a topic of discussion at the Feb. 2 workshop meeting, at which time council members talked about the ability to change the set fees in the middle of the year if necessary. Council learned from the borough’s attorney the fees can be amended any time during the year.

This motion to approve carried 7-0.

Council also approved the lease agreement for use of the fire company building for 2021. The borough fire department, in addition to borough council and the senior citizens group, will also use the building this year.

Public works Director Paul Boyle noted the plows were out as much as possible after the three-day snowstorm, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, to continue opening the borough’s roads and alleys.

Garbage collection was suspended the week of the snowstorm. As a result, 39.5 tons of garbage were picked up the week of Feb. 8 - not including the dumpsters.

Borough council will hold its next workshop meeting March 2.
