‘Snow angels’ with shovels are spotted in Catasauqua

A large snowstorm and the post-storm cleanup can bring out the worst in some people. In others, it can bring out concern for others, stimulating the transformation into “snow angels.”

The following is a true story from Catasauqua. The author requested anonymity.

“I was out, as all of us were, shoveling snow, and a bunch of kids came walking down our alley. They talked to my neighbor about what she needed shoveled. She showed them. They did it and left.

“They yelled to my neighbor to ‘contact us if you need anything else.’

“Jokingly, I said, ‘I just may contact you for the next snowstorm.’

“They smiled and walked away and seemingly disappeared.

“My neighbor said she thought they were on the ANYTHING Catasauqua Facebook page. Later that night, I went on Facebook and saw how they went around Catty, and I think surrounding areas, and shoveled. They wouldn’t take money for what they did. They just helped,” the resident said.

The resident said they ideally wanted to get a collection together to help pay for gas money for these good Samaritans but, realizing the challenges of that course, they are settling with sharing their good deeds with the community.

Snow angels exist in the caverns of one’s mind, just like concern, compassion and the desire to help others without recognition. Apparently, at least on this day in Catasauqua, snow angels were real.
