Salisbury Elementary School reopens Jan. 26

Welcome Back to our kindergarten and first graders! We are so excited to see you!

Salisbury Elementary School is thrilled to be opening its doors to our first students of the year. Kindergarten and first graders returned to face-to-face learning Jan. 27, while second through 12th grade students will return to their buildings Feb. 8.

Yes, for those students who attended Western Salisbury Elementary School, they are entering an entirely new school. But, the building will look different even for students who attended Harry S Truman Elementary School.

Grades have been shifted to different pods or some to different levels of the same pod. It will be an adjustment for everyone, but together we can make this a great second half of the year.

As someone who worked at WSE for 14 years, I can honestly say I was a little nervous myself to make the drive across town. It took me a few days to learn how to navigate a new building and learn the names of my new co-workers. (I will admit I am still putting names with faces because it is not easy to do when everyone is wearing masks.) But one thing is for sure: everyone from teachers, to custodians, to secretaries, to cafeteria staff and instructional assistants are super friendly and helpful with any questions I have. Salisbury Elementary School is my new home.

Just a quick reminder Feb. 12 will be a snow makeup day from our day off Dec. 17, 2020.

If you or someone you love likes trains, then you need to check out the America on Wheels Museum in Allentown. From now until the end of February, there will be model trains rolling through the museum for the Holiday Trains display. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 610-432-4200. Did I mention kids 12 and under are free on the weekends?

“I tell young people - including my granddaughter - there is no shortcut in life. You have to take it one step at a time and work hard. And you have to give back.” Hank Aaron
