Central Catholic honors fall sports athletes

Our Allentown Central Catholic High School Vikette cross-country team finished its dual meet season with a record of 2-2, defeating Dieruff and Whitehall but falling to Emmaus and Parkland. The Vikettes placed fifth out of 13 teams in the DXI 2A Championships. First Year Letter Winners include: Rosie Deisher, Erin Durso, Izzy Kehole-Huck, Madison Kudla and Catherine Raynock; Second Year Letter Winners include: Daniela Collins, Jillian Erlich, Maggie Michalak and Patsy Shak. Third Year Letter Winners include: Izzy DeVos and Julia Roth and Fourth Year Letter Winner was Miranda Gulcz. MVP is Patsy Shak.

Our Viking cross-country team concluded its dual meet portion of the season with a 2-2 record, besting Dieruff and Whitehall; but losing to Emmaus and Parkland. In the DXI 2A Championships, the boys placed fifth out of 18 teams. First Year Letter Winners include: Jonathan Romero, Leo Koons, Brian Collins, Ben Keenan, Ben McMurtie and Pat McMurtie; Second Year Letter Winners include Patrick Donahue, Liam Gibson and Jake Demchak. Third Year Letter Winners include Dani Popovic, Marko Popovic, Jimmy Freeman and David Fleck; Fourth Year Letter Winners include Evan Renner and Sam Sharpe. MVP is Jake Demchak.

Vikette soccer finished its regular season with a 12-4-1 record; 56 goals for and only eight against. The Vikettes advanced to the DXI Championships, defeating Palisades to capture ACCHS’s first DXI title since 2009. In the State Tournament, they defeated Archbishop Wood in the quarterfinal, but fell to Bloomsberg in the semifinals. First Year Letter Winners include: Ava Baker, Ellie Rodowicz, Molly Driscoll, Abbey Kofroth, Armani Brickhouse, Kaycee Cadden, Bridey Lawler, Peyton Mercer, Samantha Fanger and Emily Vaughan; Second Year Letter Winners include: Avery Lane, Madi Szoke, Kaylen Spatzer, Jayden Hagadus, Carly Rohrbach, Josslin Muto, Sarah Fenstermacher and Liz Morren. Third Year Letter Winners include: Izzy DeVos, Hanna Hoeing and Julia Roth. Fourth Year Letter Winner and Two-Time MVP is Erica Dietz.

Viking soccer finished its regular season with a 7-5 record, highlighted with a win against Parkland. The team defeated Nativity in the DXI quarterfinals, but fell to Notre Dame Green Pond in the semifinals. First Year Letter Winners include: Auggie Barr, Liam Drake, Michael Driscoll, Nicky Salvador and Luke Sedlack; Second Year Letter Winners include: Josh Devers, Nick Greitzer, Kyle Hodrick, Maksym Komperda, Jake Pellini, George Psarros, Connor O’Neill, Cole Sonday, Owen Wandalowski, Pearce Wagner and Raphael Wolf. Third Year Letter Winners: include Charlie Kuczynski, Brandon Quinn, Ben Scandone and Ryan Yen. MVP is Brandon Quinn.

Congratulations to our musical students who successfully auditioned for two select Pennsylvania Music Educators Association ensembles. Natalie Woytek was selected to PMEA District 10 Chorus and Drina Bianchini was selected to PMEA District 10 Orchestra.

ACCHS 2019-2020 yearbooks are on the way. Shipping has been slightly delayed, but rest assured they will be delivered to Central very soon. They will post updates on when they arrive as well as schedule times for students to pick up. The school thanks everyone for their patience and understanding.
