Emmaus High School graduation date tentatively set

Graduation for the Emmaus High School Class of 2021 is tentatively scheduled 1 p.m. June 13 at the PPL Center in Allentown. Seniors are encouraged to keep this date and weekend open with the possibility of this date changing within that time period. For more information regarding graduation, visit the EHS school website.

Seniors can order their caps and gowns and diplomas by accessing a link sent to them in a letter by EHS Principal Dr. Kate Kieres; 12th graders should complete the Google form by the order deadline of Jan. 15.

Students interested in taking part in a virtual school talent show hosted by the Gay Straight Alliance should fill out the Google form found on the EHS school webpage by Jan. 12. In order to participate, students must fill out the form; however, “acts of all sorts and sizes” will be accepted. Also, students must follow the code of conduct in order to compete.

The EHS debate team will participate in the forthcoming virtual Eastern Pennsylvania Conference debate period. The squad will be debating the topic of “The United States federal government should enact substantial criminal justice reform in one or more of the following: forensic science, policing and sentencing.” Students who wish to try out and join the club should join the group Schoology and are encouraged to email Mr. Richards at mrichards@eastpennsd.org.

SGA will host a school wide Kahoot! video game via Zoom 7 p.m. Jan. 15. Students who participate have a chance to win prizes such as $25-$100 Visa gift cards. Any students interested in taking part should fill out the Google form on the EHS school website.

Current positive cases of COVID-19 at EHS and other schools within the East Penn School District are tracked, updated daily and can be seen on the EHS website.

There will be a Lehigh Carbon Community College virtual visit for any junior and senior interested 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14.

Spanish club is conducting virtual cookie shows with students baking Latin/Spanish recipes every Wednesday. Anyone is welcome to join. Students who wish to get involved should use the following code to join: 5XMC-MSJW-TKDCM.

There will be a Habitat for Humanity club meeting Jan. 19 on Google meet rather than Zoom.

The Future Business Leaders of America is still running this school year. Any students with a knack for business and intrigued in joining the club should join the Schoology group at R4X2-Z946-5Q8SR.

The EHS Theatre Department’s fall production is finished and can be viewed via the link on the EHS school website.

The EHS school store, The Hornet’s Nest, is preparing merchandise orders for main office pickup along with now accepting credit card payments.
