Freedom-Liberty football game canceled

It was supposed to be the grand finale for the local football season, instead it’s just another victim of COVID.

Wednesday afternoon’s rescheduled affair between Liberty and Freedom at BASD Stadium was canceled Tuesday morning due to COVID concerns, citing new mitigation orders from Gov. Tom Wolf.

The contest was originally scheduled for October 31 as the usual regular season finale, but was pushed back due to a member of Liberty’s coaching staff contracting the virus.

The Patriots (5-2) then went on to play in the District 11 6A tournament, reaching last week’s championship round before falling to Nazareth 37-29.

Liberty (0-6) played two more contests in November against Southern Lehigh and most recently against Parkland last Friday night.

This year's Liberty-Freedom game, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25, was canceled Tuesday morning.
