Bethlehem Catholic cross country coach Kassi Yocco has been putting the word out, trying to add to the Hawks’ roster of nine boys and six girls for the 2020 season.

“I’ve been telling them to encourage their friends to join,” Coach Yocco said.

Marcella Banuelos is a key returner, the only senior on the team, and she happens to play soccer too.

“She’s one of our top runners. She looks good, and she’s strong,” said Yocco. “I know how hard it is to balance two sports because I did cross country and cheerleading in high school.”

Julia Bricco and Margaret Burke are also returning.

On the boys’ side, Daniel Smith and Aidan Michels are the Hawks’ key returners.

“They look great, strong, they work together, and they’re good leaders,” Yocco said.

Matt Millen, who was the top runner on the boys’ team last year, has transferred to another school.

Becahi’s first cross country meet of the season is scheduled for Tuesday, past Press deadlines, against Easton at Illick’s Mill.
