Lehigh Township: Church’s outdoor food cupboard open

Hope Lutheran Church’s community cupboard is now open in the parking lot of the 4131 Lehigh Drive, Cherryville, church.

Many people are living with food insecurity these days, and some are not comfortable asking for assistance. The community cupboard will be kept stocked with nonperishable/shelf-stable food, and people needing sustenance will be able to stop by and help themselves without having to check in with anyone.

This does not replace the congregation’s support for Northampton Area Food Bank but is an additional way to help neighbors in need.

***

Due to COVID-19, Hope Lutheran’s basket committee and congregational council announced the cancellation of the fall basket social, which would have taken place in October.

Hopefully, a 2021 event will be able to be held.

***

Hope Lutheran Church continues to worship 8 a.m. Sundays in the church parking lot and Monday nights at Becky’s Drive-In beginning at dusk.

Is your church or organization having a fundraiser or event in Lehigh Township you want to let the community know about? Send me the information at kristinaheschgrover@rcn.com, and I will be happy to announce it in a future column.
