LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Returning to school

By LOU WHEELAND

Special to The Press

The first day of school for elementary school students in the Parkland School District was a bit different this year.

With the coronavirus pandemic limiting the number of students attending in-classroom learning, only half the students were allowed to attend on Aug. 31.

School buses transported about a third of their usual numbers as many parents chose to drive their children to school rather than use a bus.

The school district’s hybrid system has children whose last names begin with the letters A to L attending school on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Those with last names beginning with M through Z attend Thursdays and Fridays.

All elementary students attend online class on Wednesdays.
