Every year, Beverly (Greene) Kotsch, who grew up in Cementon, anticipates the arrival of the Cement Belt Fair.
As a child, fair week was the absolute best. She, her siblings and friends spent every night at the fair. An added bonus is her birthday is June 26, which is always around the time frame of fair week.
This year, Kotsch, who now resides in Hokendauqua, was disappointed that, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there would be no Cement Belt Fair. Much to her surprise, though, her daughter organized a birthday party, with a theme of the Cement Belt Fair.
Kotsch’s daughter Tara and granddaughter Sam, along with other family members, created their own version of the fair entertainment. The family had fun trying to pop balloons with darts and the I Got It game, among others.
Kotsch enjoyed the fair-themed birthday party and was appreciative she did not miss the Cement Belt Fair this year - it just came to her in a unique, special way.
