Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M, Bethlehem, is investigating a homicide that occurred during the overnight hours of June 7 at Route 145 and Clearview Road, North Whitehall Township.

According to police, Maurice Dennis, 45, of Easton, who had a gunshot wound, was found by a passing motorist.

He was transported by Northern Valley EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Dennis was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 4 a.m., police say.

According to Lehigh County Coroner Eric Minnich, an autopsy was completed on June 8.

Minnich said the cause of Dennis’ death is gunshot wound to body.

The manner of his death has been ruled a homicide, he said.

According to police, the investigation is continuing and there is no immediate danger to the public.
