The Macungie Farmers Market is open for the season 4-7 p.m. Thursday evenings at its new location on Lumber Street. The market features local family farmers providing home grown food: fruits, vegetables, meat products, eggs, baked goods, plants and more.

All indoor and outdoor facilities at Macungie Memorial Park are closed until further notice. Facilities will be reopened based on guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society.

The Macungie pool will not open this year.

Fourth of July festivities at Macungie Memorial Park have been canceled.

The Macungie Memorial Park Board has canceled Das Awkscht Fescht and Wheels of Time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Macungie Memorial Park has acquired a 1.6 acre parcel of land between Lumber Street and Mountain Creek. This acquisition is an addition to the western side of the park and gives the park land on both sides of Mountain Creek.

Concordia Lutheran Church, 2623 Brookside Road, offers video links for Sunday morning services. Concordia Lutheran Church will hold virtual Vacation Bible School “Rainforest Explorers” with one lesson a week June 28-Aug. 2. During the stay-at-home orders of the last 11 weeks, there have been many news reports of wild animal sightings in public areas. While there have always been fox sightings around the Lower Macungie suburbs, I have heard of many more than usual this spring. We had our own animal kingdom moment a couple weeks ago. Caroline and I were at Home Depot when we got a text picture of a hawk eating a squirrel in our neighbor’s yard. When we pulled into the driveway 20 minutes later, we were surprised to see him still there. He stayed long enough to pose for me so I could get pictures with my good camera. Then he took off with the rest of his dinner.
