Drug, alcohol services adjusted during health crisis

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, drug and alcohol services have shifted to best assist Lehigh County residents while maintaining safety during the health crisis. There are resources and more information available on the Lehigh County website under the human services heading.

Lehigh Valley Drug and Alcohol Intake Unit will continue to meet the needs of the clients in need of drug and alcohol assessments and provide recovery support services using telehealth services.

Walk-in evaluations may be scheduled by calling 610-923-0394 and are being conducted via telehealth.

Certified recovery specialists are currently available for remote meetings with individuals, and new referrals are being accepted. Similarly, case management services are available remotely, and new referrals are being accepted.

Recovery centers are closed until further notice. The staff will continue to assist community members via phone and social media, provide information about available resources and guide clients to recovery supports and other resources during this time.

There are virtual resources for recovery support on the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol website, dap.pa.gov, as well as the Facebook page, facebook.com/PennsylvaniaDDAP.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration website has information on telemedicine, guidance for opioid treatment programs and more at samhsa.gov.

Adult Children of Alcoholics online meetings can be found at adultchildren.org. Al-Anon electronic and phone meetings can be found at al-anon.org. There are AA online meetings available at aa-intergroup.org.
