North Catasauqua: Paska order deadline nears

Holy Trinity Orthodox Catholic Church, 1023 Fifth St., is taking orders for freshly baked paska bread and kielbasa for Easter.

The deadline to order is March 25. Orders for paska are limited - a maximum of 300 will be made - so call early.

For the cost and to place an order, call 610-395-5737.

Pickup will be 3-6 p.m. April 4 in the church hall, accessed by side steps to the lower level.

The Catty Seniors Plus meeting that was scheduled for March 25 has been canceled.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., is closed until March 30 because of the threat of COVID-19.

It will open March 30 with a half-price sale.

Store operation hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Wednesdays and Saturdays 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

The North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park is closed until further notice. The borough and recreation committee hope to limit any health risks to residents and feel this is a necessary temporary step.

The April 5 Easter egg hunt at the park is canceled.

Catasauqua and North Catasauqua will celebrate Independence Day with a gala celebration beginning 11 a.m. July 4 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park and ending with fireworks at dusk at the Alumni Field football stadium, 850 Pine St.

The J4 Committee is asking for contributions to help with the event. Donations of $200 or more will be listed in the J4 newsletter as a special donor. All donors will be listed on a patron list displayed at the park. Those who give $100 or more will be listed as a red patron; those who give $50 to $99 will be listed as a white patron; and donors who give $49 and under will be listed as a blue patron.
