Dawn E. Mendez, 54, of Salisbury Township, died in her home surrounded by her family Feb. 2, 2020. She was the loving wife of Jose R. Mendez with whom she shared over 31 years of marriage. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Joan (Eldridge) Brodt and the late Dale Brodt.
She was a graduate of William Allen High School and went on to further her education at Kutztown University and East Stroudsburg University, where she earned her master’s degree in education.
She was employed by the Bethlehem Area School District, first as an ESL teacher, later as a technology integration specialist and most recently as a teacher of the middle school gifted program.
She was a devoted member of Cathedral Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem, where she also served as a youth group mentor.
She loved the beach, especially family trips to Rehoboth Beach, Dela. Above all, she cherished her family and all the quiet blessings of those she held in her heart.
She is survived by her husband; mother; son, Alan, of Astoria, N.Y.; sister, Kimberly and her husband, William Nelson, of Sinking Spring and Dale Brodt and his wife, Heather, of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Nativity 11 a.m. Feb. 29 with a reception to follow. Arrangements are entrusted to the Cantelmi Funeral Home, Fountain Hill.
