Ann P. Dioda

Ann P. Dioda, 84, of Lower Macungie Township, died Feb. 8, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Born in New Vernon, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Hanlon) Ponek.

She received a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Kean University in New Jersey. She was a safety specialist with the Red Cross at the national headquarters in Washington, D.C. She worked for the Red Cross for nearly 30 years before retiring. Through the Red Cross, she trained many people in water safety, first aid and CPR worldwide. She was a former camp waterfront director and 13-year volunteer for kids with diabetes at Camp Carefree in New Hampshire.

She was a former member of the Red Hats and the Emmaus Garden Club. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by daughters, Rebecca, Kathleen Krause, Susan McIntyre, Christine Lill; nine grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; brother, Edward Ponek; chosen sister, Phyllis Woestemeyer.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements were made by the Stephens Funeral Home, Allentown.
