Do you remember when we were young?
We played outside, and always had fun.
We always were running, and played lots of games;
Our friends joined in
whenever they came.
We had no worries, we had no cares,
We always had lots
of stories to share.
We played ““Kick the ricky,” “Burn the base”
We ran around
all over the place.
“Mother may I?” “Hide and seek,” “Hop scotch,” too
And, other games that were good for you.
When we got tired, we sat and talked;
When we were rested, we went for a walk.
Sometimes we played word games, and had to guess,
Was the answer no, or was it yes?
Our youth was filled with wonder, as we learned things every day;
I can’t believe it’s over, and our youth has gone away!
As I remember, we never did anything bad;
We were always grateful for everything we had.
I think those days are gone now,
They’re something of the past;
The hatred and the anger seem to
Be the major task.
Although the times have changed now,
My memories always stay;
So, I will hope and I will pray
They never go away!
Do you remember?
