Coplay Mayor Dean Molitoris called the reorganization meeting to order Jan. 6.

The mayor swore in three members of council - incumbents Janet Eisenhauer and Mark Molitoris and newly elected Richard Kern.

Council voted to install Louis Bodish as council president and Charles Sodl as vice president.

The council pro-tem position was given to Carl Lukenbach.

On the staff positions, Kimberly Bachman was sworn in as the borough secretary/treasurer. Attorney James Preston will continue as borough solicitor.

Vincent Genovese was reappointed as police chief. Joseph Gill was appointed as borough health inspector.

Sodl announced Fire Chief Matthew Buskaritz resigned for personal reasons. He recommended council appoint Brandon Bechtel as fire chief. The recommendation was based on Sodl’s experience working with Bechtel in various positions in the department. Council unanimously promoted Bechtel as the new fire chief.

The next council meeting is 7 p.m. Jan. 14.
