A $1,500 donation was presented recently to Northampton Community College’s H.O.P.E. Food Pantry. The funds were contributed by Unity Bank employees and matched by the bank as part of a special annual holiday community service project that was started more than 10 years ago.
The Helping Our Peers Excel (HOPE) Food Pantry, staffed by volunteers, first opened for students in the fall 2016. The pantry, organized by the college’s Nursing Student Organization, provides students with non-perishable food items supplied by Second Harvest Food Bank.
H.O.P.E. accepts any non-perishables, especially dry goods, and welcomes gift cards to local grocery stores or pharmacies. For information on the food pantry, visit www.northampton.edu/hope-food-pantry.htm
