Mervin W. Peters Sr., 87, of Walnutport and formerly of Schnecksville, died Dec. 8, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Emilie R. (Schoener) Peters for 62 years.
Born in Egypt, he was a son of the late William J.C. and Naomi I. (Oswald) Peters.
He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War era.
He was a master carpenter for Union Local 167, Allentown, for more than 40 years before he retired.
He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, and formerly served on the consistory.
He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 192, Schnecksville; Slatington Lodge 440, F&AM; and Community Fire Company 1, Schnecksville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Patricia A. Knopf with Ron of Northampton, Michelle L. Sgrignoli with Bryan of Enola, Renee D. James with Russell of Northampton and Ellen J. Peters of Slatington; a son, Mervin W. Jr. with Donna of North Whitehall; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Eleanor I. Piger, Lorraine N. Schneck and Dorothea D. Christman; and a grandson, Joshua Whitehouse.
