Ruth E. Gogel, 93, formerly of Walnutport, died Nov. 10, 2019. She was the wife of the late Lawrence A. Gogel and later the companion and caregiver of the late Merritt Bossard.

Born in Lockport, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Grace (Hartley) Green.

She was a 1944 graduate of Slatington High School.

After graduation, she inspected artillery shells at Bethlehem Steel until the end of the World War II. She and her husband ran Gogel’s Auto Parts at various locations until they retired. She was a notary public for many years.

She was a member of Slatington Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and ladies Bible class president.

She was a Girl Scout leader and a Lehigh Township Lioness for many years.

She is survived by two sons, David L. and his wife Dolores of Bath and Donald A. of Walnutport; a daughter, Donna Kumernitsky and her fiance Glenn Straub of Ballietsville; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Kelsey and Donna; a great-granddaughter, Jionna; and two brothers, George Green and his wife Martha of Slatington and Robert Green and his wife Nancy of Walnutport.

She was predeceased by two children, Daniel A. and Doris J.
