Gerry S. Johnston, 81, of Allentown, died Nov. 3, 2019, with his entire family by his side. He was the former husband of Lorraine A. Johnston, of Allentown and the longtime companion of Ann B. Sousa until her death in April 2012. He was the only child of Mary G. (Starr) and Russell S. Johnston.
He was a 1956 graduate of Allentown High School and served honorably in the United States Army Reserves.
During his years of employment at Valley Distributing Co., Coca Cola Bottling Co. and Pepsi Co., he was well known in grocery stores all over the Lehigh Valley for his friendly nature, signature cackle and infectious spirit.
He was a loyal Emmaus Green Hornets and New England Patriots fan and was a season ticket holder to the latter, regularly driving over five hours to Foxborough, Mass., for home games in his younger years.
He is survived by Susan Schmidt, of Emmaus, Sallie Zahour (Gregg), of Schnecksville, Scott, of Allentown and Steven (Michelle), of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; grandchildren, Maria, Ben and Katherine Schmidt, Nicole Schieck (Josiah), Lauren and Gregg Zahour, Ariel Sumpter, Nicholas and Noelani; great-grandchildren, Millie and Eli Schieck; canine companion, Scottish Terrier Sophie Jane and many friends.

A memorial service wearing your favorite sports paraphernalia will be held 5:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Stephens Funeral Home, 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown, 18106. Calling hours are 4 to 5:30 p.m. prior to the service.
