William S. Ruppert, 88, of Lenhartsville, died October 28, 2019, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife, Shirley E. (Hausman) Ruppert, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10.

Born in Oley, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Sally (Dautrich) Ruppert.

He was raised by his uncle and aunt, William B. and Emma Ruppert.

A Korean War veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-51.

He worked for many years at Mack Trucks, Macungie, until his retirement.

He was a member of Jacob’s Church, Jacksonville, Lynn Township, and the Lynnport and Kutztown fire companies.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughters Lucille A. Miller, at home, Loretta L., wife of Bruce Peters, of New Tripoli, Carolyn A., wife of Gary Krick of Lenhartsville, Brenda E., wife of Michael Lentz, of Germansville, Doris S., wife of John Turko, of Kempton, Rita M., wife of Richard Reinhart of New Tripoli, and Teresa L., wife of Steven Riegel, of New London, N.C.; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Crystal Dawn Turko; and siblings, James and Daniel Ruppert, Helen Ruth, Isabelle Kohler and John Hertzog. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Nov. 2 in Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, with a calling hour to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Interment, with military honors, will follow the service in Jacob’s Union Cemetery, New Tripoli.

The Rev. Scott L. Shay will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the church memorial fund sent to the funeral home.
