NORTH WHITEHALL: St. John’s UCC having basket social

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, will host a walk-in basket social between 5-8 p.m. Nov. 1, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 2.

The drawing starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Winners will be notified.

Plenty of food and refreshments will be available for purchase to eat in or take out. There will also be a bake sale.

Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, invites the public to purchase baked goods beginning 7 a.m. Election Day, Nov. 5.

Shoofly pies, sticky buns, cinnamon swirl bread, snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies, M&M cookies and hot dogs will be available.

Union Lutheran serves the community as a polling location. The food sale is open to everyone, not just voters at this location.

The church is continuing the traditional Election Day bake sale previously offered at the Schnecksville Grange.

The Auxiliary of Northern Valley EMS, NOVA, will be offering soup, sandwiches and baked goods on Election Day.

All are welcome to stop by for the food sale, even if this is not their polling site.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will have a Messy Church workshop 5:30-6:45 p.m. Nov. 6.

The theme for the night will be “Our Big Comfy Church.” The evening includes crafts, activities, dinner and worship.

Union UCC has started another year of learning and fun in the Sunday School program.

Enthusiastic teachers are excited to share their faith with children every Sunday during Education Hour, from 9:15-10:15 a.m.

The Tri-Cees Chorale of Lehigh Carbon Community College will perform during the Welsh song festival, Gymanfa Ganu, 2:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at United Presbyterian Church, 6750 Route 873, Slatington. The chorale, a group of music lovers, includes LCCC personnel, retired teachers, blue collar workers and vocalists from area church choirs. Parkland graduate William Marshall is the new conductor of the Tri-Cees.

He earned two Bachelor’s degrees, one in voice, music education, the other in subject matter education, prekindergarten to grade 12 music, from Rowan University and a Master of Music degree in Historical Performance Voice from the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins.

Marshall has extensive vocal experience in opera, musical theater and classical style concert and choral works.

He is the artistic director of the Interrupted Silence vocal ensemble which presents concerts at Union UCC, Neffs.
