Kutztown
Alyssa Oakley of Allentown was one of 18 Kutztown University students inducted April 16 into the 2019 class of Alpha Phi Sigma, National Honor Society for Criminal Justice, at its annual induction ceremony.
Alpha Phi Sigma was founded in 1942 at Washington State University and became affiliated with the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences in 1976.
Today, there are almost 300 Alpha Phi Sigma chapters around the country.
KU’s Kappa Alpha chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma was established in 2008 with 13 founding members.
The chapter advisors are Dr. Pietro Toggia and the assistant advisor is Dr. AnnMarie Cordner.
To be eligible for membership, a student must be a criminal justice major or minor, have completed at least 40 credit hours, including at least four criminal justice courses, have an overall QPA of 3.2 or higher, and have a QPA in criminal justice courses of 3.2 or higher.
