WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Five candidates are seeking four seats on the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners.
Philip Ginder, Jeffrey J. Warren, Charles G. Fisher, Randy Atiyeh and LoriAnn Fehnel are vying for four-year terms.
We asked the candidates the following question:
What qualities do you believe voters are looking for in a commissioner?
Democrat/Republican
Philip Ginder
I believe the residents and voters of Whitehall Township are looking for and expect experience, honesty, integrity and dedicated hard work from a Whitehall Township commissioner. These traits are necessary to keep Whitehall a safe and desirable community to live, work and raise a family. The constant needs of Whitehall are police and fire protection, redevelopment of unused properties, recreational needs, street repair and traffic, prudent budgeting, future capital improvements and maintaining pride in our neighborhoods and Whitehall as our home. I promise my experience, honesty, integrity and dedicated hard work to and for the residents of Whitehall Township.
Democrat/Republican
Jeffrey J. Warren
Honesty, transparent, independent, hardworking and active in the community. These qualities are key to maintaining public trust. A commissioner’s duties require them to be prepared and informed decision makers. Ensuring tax dollars are spent wisely with priority given to the services residents expect. It is imperative MacArthur Road remains clean and viable as the retail tax base lessens the burden on the resident taxpayer. It is imperative we are proactive, fight blight and preserve the character of our traditional neighborhoods. Maintaining quality of life and ensuring Whitehall remains a safe place to raise a family will be my priority.
Democrat
Charles G. Fisher
The citizens of Whitehall Township want a commissioner who, like an Eagle Scout, is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. In all of their dealings with the township, a commissioner should strive to be physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. The citizens also want a commissioner who should be prepared to do a good turn daily for the township. As an Eagle Scout, I hold these virtues close to my heart, and as a commissioner, I will use them daily to work fairly and selflessly for my fellow citizens. Character counts.
Democrat/Republican
Randy Atiyeh
I have dedicated my professional career to serving people. In addition to being a small-business owner of a driver education school, I am also the assistant principal and basketball coach at William Allen High School. Everyday I get to collaborate with a team of people to create positive change. I believe voters are looking for an excellent communicator and one who welcomes courageous conversations that are necessary to protect and improve the quality of life for all of the residents here in Whitehall Township. As a 2006 Zephyr graduate, Whitehall always has been and always will be home.
Republican
LoriAnn Fehnel
I 100-percent believe we need our citizens’ input on ways to improve Whitehall Township. I want to be a commissioner who advocates for all of us in our community.
I believe our veterans should always be shown proper honor and respect at all times.
I also would like to bring more mental health awareness to our community.
I believe in hiring part-time police officers to have more police patrols in our residential neighborhoods.
I hope I may have your consideration on the Republican side of the ballot. I hope I can serve you and make you proud.
