Elsie L. Smith, 89, of Bethlehem and formerly of Allentown, died Sept. 28, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Born in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late Wesley J. and Mary A. (Runk) Cramer.

In her earlier years, she worked as a seamstress/inspector for various mills in the Lehigh Valley. Before that, she was a machine operator for Hingham Ship Yard, Hingham, Mass.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bethlehem, where she was an active member of the knitting group.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara M. Blatt with Charles of Topton; three sons, Joseph R. of Carmel, Ind., James W. with Cindy of Nazareth and John W. with Heather of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren, Timothy, Wesley, Taylor and Vivian; nieces; and nephews.

She was predeceased by seven brothers; and two sisters.
