The Parkland football team has seemed to find its groove of late, regaining healthy players and playing the Parkland football that the program has been accustomed to over the last decade.
The Trojans (5-2 overall, 4-2 EPC Skyline Division) are riding a three-game win streak and will host Stroudsburg (4-3, 4-2) Friday night at Parkland School District Stadium in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference cross-divisional game.
Parkland is coming off a 48-29 victory at Whitehall last Friday night to continue its momentum. There have been a lot of positive vibes and confidence around the program of late.
“We are still not completely healthy,” said head coach Tim Moncman. “We’re still waiting to get Jalon Perkins back. But the kids are playing well and the change at quarterback has seemed to spark us.”
The Mounties are coming off a 35-7 loss at home to Northampton last weekend, a team that Parkland defeated 49-14 on the road back in week one on August 23. In the game against the Kids, Stroudsburg was on the scoreboard first, via a five-yard rushing touchdown by Dimitri Rojas, but Northampton scored the next 35 points to secure the win.
While the matchup seems to favor the Trojans, Moncman knows that his team will not look past this weekend’s game because there are future goals in mind.
“Our motivation is the playoffs and hopefully a good seed,” Moncman said. “They have an outstanding running back that I consider one of the best in the league.”
It will be homecoming at Parkland School District Stadium Friday.
