EHS looks to bounce back
There’s no time for the Emmaus football team to stay in tits hive after a last-second loss to Easton. The Liberty Hurricanes (2-3) blow into East Penn School District Stadium this Friday night.
Liberty is coming off a 35-7 defeat to a very motivated Parkland squad last week.
The Hurricanes have not had the season they had hoped. They wanted to be competitive against Parkland and were not. The week prior, they had wanted to be competitive against Easton and were not, losing 44-7.
That said, Emmaus (3-2) cannot go to sleep on Liberty. John Truby, in his seventh year at the Bethlehem school, had little choice but to reconstruct his offense to showcase the skills of stud signal-caller Dallas Holmes this season. Their goal is to create on-the-field chaos, with Holmes throwing the ball around faster than defenses can blink.
Holmes has some quick receivers in Kyle Jimenez, Jason Estrella, Rondell McNeil and Kendrick Wesley. The running attack is led by Kareem Morrison.
“They have some players who can create problems with that offense,” said Emmaus coach Harold Fairclough.
Liberty’s defense played well in two early-season games, but has struggled against better competition.
Defensive linemen Messiah Johnson, Lance Pristas, Max Dillion and Karl Pale will do their best to stuff the run and put some heat on Emmaus quarterback Jacob Moyer. Linebacker Zaire Mitchell is a tough player who enjoys contact. His buddies in the linebacking regiment include Wesley and Jiminez.
Liberty’s special teams have been special at times this season. Kickers Sander Saheydek and Ethan Ferry often pound the ball on kickoffs, punts and PATs.
“We’ll be ready for them,” said Fairclough.
