On Aug. 15, Coplay native Sophie Osborne went to Fort Bragg, N.C., home of the 82nd Airborne Division, for a ceremony honoring her daughter, Amanda Kesselring.

Kesselring graduated from Whitehall High School in 2014 and enlisted in the Army in 2016. She completed her qualifications as a combat medic and her national EMS certification.

At the ceremony, Kesselring was promoted to sergeant and re-enlisted for another three years. She was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal and was assigned to the 36th Area Support Medical Company.

Osborne was proud to pin sergeant stripes on her daughter’s uniform. Kesselring’s husband, Cody Ford, another combat medic, joined in the ceremony.
