Emilie Schmauch, 91, of Topton, formerly of Macungie, died Sept. 9, 2019. She was the wife of the late Dr. George E. Schmauch Sr. Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Murray) Luke.

She was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and graduated from Bucknell University where she was a drum major and a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

During her working career, she was a teacher at The Swain School, Allentown.

She formerly was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Allentown.

She was an active member of the Lehigh Valley Hospital Auxiliary, assisting with their gift shop.

She loved to entertain in her home, played the piano and organ and was both an avid knitter and good cook.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara L. and her husband, Joseph A. Reed, of York; son, George E. Jr., of Macungie; daughter-in-law, Andrea, of Edmond, Okla.; grandchildren, Emilie and Hannah Reed, Johnathan, Andrew and Marissa; several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Dr. Edward H.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 237 Court St., Reading, 19601.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. A calling hour will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the funeral home.
