Gene T. Thrash Sr., 76, of Northampton, died Aug. 16, 2019, at Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Knappenberger) for 53 years.
Born in Hazelton, he was a son of the late Cleatis Sr. and Irene (Gregg) Thrash.
He was in the U.S. Navy.
He drove a truck for UPS for more than 30 years and retired in 2002. He then drove a school bus for 12 years for the Northampton Area School District.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northampton, and was active on the church council.
He was a member of the Northampton Borough Fire Police.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gene Jr. and his wife Christina, Troy and his wife Jody, and Jason; a daughter, Melissa and her husband William Hughes; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Jada, Ayden, Gavin, Evan, Brynnica, Logan, Bryce, Luke, Dawson, Quinn and Evangeline; three sisters, Marion Ayre, Marie Kotansky and Judy Krouse; a brother, Harold; and a sister-in-law, Marlene Knappenberger.
He was predeceased by five brothers.
There will be a viewing 10-11 a.m., followed by services 11 a.m., Aug. 22 at the funeral home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton.
Contributions may be made to the church, 1904 Main St., or to the Northampton Borough Fire Police, 4 Lerchenmiller Drive, both Northampton, 18067.
