TURNPIKE Route #309 detours Sept. 6 - 9

The Pennsylvania Turnpike - North East extension and Route 309 are closing temporarily from 9 p.m. September 6 until 4 a.m. September 9 in both directions. In case the project isn’t completed that weekend, the work would be completed between September 13 and16.

Emergency service vehicles will not be allowed on the turnpike without permission from the turnpike’s traffic incident management coordinator. Traffic will be detoured onto Routes 22 and 33, and Interstate 80.

There will be a bridge replacement project over Route 309 between the turnpike Lehigh Valley mile-marker 56 and the Mahoning Valley mile-marker 74 interchanges, according to the township website, https://southwhitehall.com/news/. Route 309 will be closed from 7 p.m. September 6 through 6 a.m. September 9, between Chapmans Road and Snowdrift Road. Route 309 traffic will be detoured on I-78/Route 22, and Route 100.
