Boscola receives state honor

Senator Lisa Boscola has been presented with the Guardian of Victims’ Rights Award, which recognizes state-wide advocates and ambassadors for crime victims across the state who work to ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect. She was one of the co-sponsors of Marsy’s Law legislation, which is aimed at providing equal rights to crime victims in Pennsylvania by ensuring constitutional protections.

The state constitution does not currently afford the same protections to crime victims as it does to individuals accused and convicted of crimes. For the constitution to be amended, legislation was passed unanimously by both the House of Representatives and the State Senate during this legislative session, qualifying it to appear as a ballot referendum in the fall.

“I proudly stood on the Senate floor in June to voice my support for Marsy’s Law and I will continue to advocate this November when casting a vote to amend our State Constitution in a manner that will empower crime victims at a time when they feel powerless,” states Boscola.
