Cura chefs and Phoebe residents recently showed off their cooking skills during a culinary showdown.
Both teams had one hour to prepare culinary masterpieces with gulf shrimp, purple cauliflower, queso fresco and one mystery ingredient … wafer cookies.
The winning duo were Cura Chef Dennis Rivera, who was assisted by Phoebe resident sous chef Marion Hahn, 86 years young.
Together, they created pan seared shrimp with a wild mushroom risotto, purple cauliflower puree and a frisee salad.
The wafer cookies were used in the salad dressing.
Engaging residents through food demonstrates Cura’s LivingLife philosophy, a commitment to nourishing the body and spirits of the seniors.
“We believe our responsibility to our residents and guests goes beyond serving fresh, healthy and delicious food,” Mark Gellert, Cura director of dining at Phoebe Terrace said.
“Through Living Life, we offer activities and food entertainment events that increase socialization, wellness and memory support among older adults,” Gellert added. “Most importantly, these activities enhance life around great food.”
