2019 Scholarship winners named

The American Association of University Women - Bethlehem, which includes the City of Bethlehem, Hanover Township, Bethlehem Township, Fountain Hill, Hellertown and Saucon Valley, has announced the local 2019 scholarship winners.

The “Book Fair” scholarship winners are Sadie Abboud, Donna Basic, Alanna Bezas, Mariah Estojak, Haley Jupina, Julie Kim, Sruthi Lakshminarayanan, Elisabeth Lee, Bridget MacDonald,Lina Perugini and Chloe Wilcox, all of Liberty HS; Stephanie Alkhatib, Mikaela Armao, Christina Chen, Leigha Evans, Megan Forst, Veronica Longley, Isabella Pacenza, Angini Patel, Emma Sonneblick and Mary Sweeney, all of Freedom HS; and Lauren Weintraub of Saucon Valley H.S. The Senior Women’s Club scholarship went to Grace Haas of Liberty HS.

The non-traditional student winner is Amanda Kemmerer of Cedar Crest College. A special scholarship was awarded to Fran Bentkowski. The 2019 Gateway to Equity Award was presented to Jennifer Pacanowski.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the winners have to had their studies interrupted at some point for at least six months, have completed the equivalent of two years of college work and be attending or have been accepted for the fall 2019 term at an accredited four-year college or university for undergraduate work.
