Charles A. ”Charlie” Schellhamer Jr., 76, of New Tripoli, died on May 24, 2019, in his home.

He and his wife Peggy E. (Grannetino) Schellhamer celebrated 23 years of marriage in July 2018.

Born in Lowhill Township, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Ida B. (Krause) Schellhamer Sr.

A lifelong, self-employed independent truck driver, he retired in 2017.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church, Palmerton.

He was a member of Allen O. Delke Legion Post 16, and Sons of the American Legion in Slatington, as well as a lifetime member of the Slatington Skeet and Sporting Association, Star Hose Co. No. 1, Emerald, and the Kempton Fire Company.

In addition to his loving wife, his survivors include sons Dean A. (Linda) Schellhamer of Slatington, Darryl J. Schellhamer of Jim Thorpe, and Dale C. Schellhamer and his fiancee, Angie Quinones, of New Ringgold; daughter Kathy L. Davidson and fiancé Preston Katoe of Lugoff, S.C.; stepdaughter Juleigh DeCarlo of Greensburg; grandchildren Lita, Austin, Heather, Jamie, Daniel, Jaxon, Luke and Nicholas; and a sister, Dolores Moyer of Emmaus.

In keeping with his final wishes, there will be no formal services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name be sent to Sons of American Legion, Post 16, 510 Main St., Slatington, PA 18080.
