FREEMANSBURG

COUNCIL (4-year term)

Vote for no more than 4

Democrat – Justin LaBar

“The big problem is Main Street – parking and driving – because it’s a state road. We’re trying to slow traffic down for safety. We added a four-way stop at Cambria and the cops are out giving citations. We want to keep taxes down and fix Main Street.”

Democrat – Homer G. Lorrah

“What we’ve been doing is cleanup – enforcing blighted properties and abandoned cars, fixing roads, building a new walking bridge over the canal. We’re upgrading the borough building to make things easier for residents and just passed a 10-ton limit on trucks on Main Street [extension]. This is the stuff people want.”

Democrat – Jim Smith

Democrat – Colleen Gallagher

“I feel like some of the major concerns for my neighborhood are similar for all Americans. There are too many houses that have been foreclosed on and sit empty and neglected. This hurts property values for neighbors. These houses get sold wholesale with no inspections or conditions. That leaves out FHA buyers and regular people who don’t have a lot set aside for big surprises. Available good paying jobs are a must for all Americans. As well as having healthcare, and healthy food options accessible to everyone. We could start a weekly farmer’s market at the Borough park.”

Republican – Margaret Reichard

“My concern is getting people to council meetings so they can tell us what their biggest concern is. I’ve attended a lot of meetings and there’s nobody there. We need people to tell us what they want. Council needs the support of the community.”
