Parkland grad receives John E. Blood award at Juniata College sentation

Shannon Kriz, Parkland Class of 2014, received the John E. Blood Award last May at Juniata College, Huntingdon.

The award is presented to the senior athlete who has earned at least four varsity letters and the highest grade-point average with significant athletic achievement.

The award was established by friends and family of John E. Blood, food service manager at Juniata from 1963-65.

Blood resigned in 1965 and died of cancer in 1966.

He was an ardent supporter of Juniata athletics and served for a season as an assistant baseball coach under Fred Prender.

Kriz was goalkeeper for four years on the Juniata women’s soccer team and had a 3.93 grade-point average.

She graduated in August 2018 summa cum laude with a degree in psychology with the highest distinction and a minor in sociology.
