Dennis C. O’Brien Sr., 81, of West Catasauqua, died April 9, 2019, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of the late Susan D. O’Brien.

Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late George and Alfreda (Schaffer) O’Brien.

He was in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Boston, during peacetime, and was awarded the Royal Order of the Blue Nose in 1957.

He was a dock worker for Roadway Express, Tannersville, for 12 years before he retired in 1998. He worked previously for Atlas Cement Company for 25 years.

He was a member of Ranger’s Lake Rod and Gun Club, North Whitehall Township.

He is survived by three daughters, Beth Ritter of North Catasauqua, Kathleen DeMaria and fiance Brian Braker of Catasauqua and Rachel and her husband of Raymond Witt III of Catasauqua; a son, Dennis Jr. and his wife Lucia O’Brien of Alburtis; two brothers, Gary O’Brien of Northampton and Dale O’Brien; three sisters, Loretta Ferrel of Allentown, Lynn Schlager of Northampton and Bonnie Schoeneberger of Arizona; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
