Boscola backs Greenway project

A bill was sent to Governor Tom Wolf’s desk after clearing the State House of Representatives this week. The legislation (House Bill 18) will legally authorize a Greenway project uniting five different parks from several municipalities along Jordan Creek.

“I applaud local our government leaders for planning this impressive project that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for many years to come,” Boscola said. “I am always happy to help coordinate state government authorization and assistance to help advance these kinds of local recreational and economic development efforts.

The project required Lehigh County to transfer 20 acres of land to Whitehall Township. It did so in 2012. However, state law mandates that the General Assembly legally authorize land transfers between municipal governments. Boscola sponsored Senate Bill 900 during the 2017-18 legislative session. However, the bill never cleared the House State Government Committee.

She said she worked closely with her House colleagues to get the legislation (House Bill 18) cleared in the House after being amended in the State Senate to include this authorization.
