Girls hope to improve
This season might be shaping up to be a rebuilding year for the Northampton girls’ lacrosse team or it could be one where they’re seeking improvement in the program.
The K-Kids finished 2-16 last season and lost 15 seniors from last year’s squad, leaving plenty of opportunity for underclassmen, but also a void in leadership.
Head coach Paige Hoffman, coming into her sixth year with the program understands the process at hand with the squad she has currently.
“We lost 15 seniors last year but were able to rebuild our roster,” Hoffman said. “We are excited to have a young but experienced team and a group that has already demonstrated great teamwork, spirit and excitement for the game.”
Returning players for the Kids are Gillian Rogerson (sr. midfielder), Jaycee Young (sr. midfielder), Alyssa Wruble (so. midfielder), Laura Filchner (so. midfielder) and Lauren Carey (sr. goalie).
New players to the roster are Gianna Coccetti (fr. defender) and Rachel Kulp (fr. midfielder).
The Kids are off to a rough start this season, dropping their first four games to Saucon Valley, Central Catholic, Moravian and Freedom.
Their 9-7 loss to Moravian was their closest contest of the season. Things don’t get any easier this week with Parkland (2-2) and Emmaus (2-1) on tap, but a Saturday showdown with Northwestern (0-2) could give the Kids their best chance at grabbing an early-season win.
“Our goals this year are to improve on last year’s record through continuous improvement and skill development of our players,” said Hoffman.
