Celebrating a birthday at the library

The invitation from the Bethlehem Public Library announced that “it is the great Doctor’s birthday, and we want to celebrate in a big way!”

On March 5 Edana Hoy, head of Youth Services, about 40 children, and 20 parents did just that. The group gathered in the children’s department on the upper level of the library to mark Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

The program began with a reading of three Dr. Seuss books by three girls from the library teen group. Mrs. Hoy then led the singing of the “Cat in the Hat.” Then it was time for the children to choose from an assortment of activity options.

There was a Cat in the Hat bean bag toss, constructing a tower out of cups, Pin the Heart on the Grinch, coloring, and There’s a Wocket in my Pocket, to name a few. The children got busy moving from one activity to another until another fun event for children at the library came to an end.
