LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Letters to The Editor

To The Editor:

On March 7, there was a North Whitehall Township meeting. Jeff Bartlett presented the township board and a crowded audience, a plan to rezone a track of Kernsville Road and another track of Route 309 in Orefield to light industrial.

I feel it is important that all North Whitehall residents are informed that such an action is being discussed for approval.

Several residents shared complaints about the trucking company on Kernsville Road, and how they are not being compliant with ordinances.

For example, no live buffer, mud in the road, garbage encroaching neighboring properties, speed infractions.

Residents expressed a concern that more of the same will occur with a rezoning action. Residents expressed a desire to keep the rural environment of North Whitehall.

Others stated the present landscape is why they chose to build a home here.

Traffic and the impact on 309 was also questioned by residents.

I live beside Fairland Farms. The Parkland Press sometimes comes up at our neighborhood get-togethers.

While many have canceled subscriptions, I keep mine because I want to know what’s happening in my community in North Whitehall.

Others have said they felt they were paying for photos of local church events, versus news about the community. Some feel South Whitehall takes top billing.

I expected to see coverage of this meeting the following week, and was disappointed because it is an issue that can change our community.

Perhaps other neighboring residents will want information to attend this topic continuing at the next meeting.
