Lehman wins District 11 diving gold

The Parkland girls and boys diving teams dominated the competition during the District 11 Class 3A Championships held Feb. 23.

The terrific trio of Lexi Lehman, Alexa Brinker and Kate Gottwald claimed the top three spots with 479.5, 453.15 and 439.50 points respectively. In an interview earlier this season, coach Cary Lehman said they’ve been a steading influence on the Trojan roster all season long,

“Basically they will finish one-two-three, with the order changing from one meet to the next,” he said. “They have just done a tremendous job.”

The coach added that what sets the talented divers apart from their rivals is their individual and collective work ethics, their ability to receive coaching and their never-say-die attitude to achieve their best.

While Lehman, Brinker and Gottwald are finished products, the Lady Trojan diving team is developing more talent. Case in point, Lehman noted, was Ally Roth. The Parkland freshman finished sixth overall in the district meet, with a score of 385.70.

The Parkland boys also featured three young men who stymied all of the District 11 competition with the exception of Emmaus’ Brendan McCourt who took first place with an outstanding 516.45 performance. Trojans Logan Choma, Ethan Radio and Kole Cannon finished two, three and four with totals of 493.85, 450.55 and 449.40.

“They have all performed well this season,” Lehman said.

Finishing 10th in districts was Michael Salvino with 312.70 points. Salvino has “improved as the season has gone along” according to his coach and his best days are ahead.
